Watering Tips: Fresh Water for the New Season

Spring is finally here, and it’s a good time to make sure your horse’s water is fresh for the seasonal transition. Weather plays a big role when considering if your water is of the best quality, so here are a few tips to make sure you’re giving your horse the water he needs.

Temperature Is Key
Horses prefer their water neither too hot nor too cold. Now that winter is over, you no longer have to worry about freezing, but with the rising temperatures it is important to make sure your horse’s water stays cool. By using an automatic waterer, your water will cycle and refill as your horse drinks.

Ease of Access
It’s always a good idea to provide your horse with constant access to water. When using buckets, you’ll have to monitor water levels and refill as needed, but with automatic waterers, you can rest easy, knowing your horse will never lose access to water when they’re thirsty or need hydration.

Disease Prevention
Winter can provide a temporary relief from mosquito-borne illnesses, but with the nicer weather comes the risk of insects spreading illnesses such as Zika, West Nile Virus, Heartworm, and Dengue Fever. Automatic waterers lessen the chance of mosquitos breeding and laying eggs in stagnant water.

These are just a few of the benefits of using automatic waterers during warmer weather. To learn more and make the switch, visit Ritchiefount.com today.
