Jeff Davis Shares His Most Valuable Lesson Learned

My most valuable lesson learned from Clinton is how to be a thinking horseman. That’s something that Clinton has spent a lot of time talking about with us in the past six months. Riding with him every day, I got to pick his brain about horses in general, horsemen he respects and his mentors. One common theme with all the horsemen and mentors he talked about was that they were just all-around thinking horsemen. They knew how to work themselves through a problem. I’ll have a problem arise with a horse when I’m on the road giving a lesson and when I get home I talk to Clinton about it. I tell him how I worked through it and how I drew on my experience to solve the problem, and Clinton will say, “That’s exactly right. That’s what’s called being a thinking horseman.” – Professional Clinician Jeff Davis
