More Training Than Ever at Walkabout Tours

Clinton has added an additional training demonstration to the lineup of events at this year’s Walkabout Tours presented by Ritchie Industries. At each event, we bring in two local horses that are exhibiting training challenges. Some of the horses are hot and reactive and their owners can’t get them to relax and others are on the opposite end of the scale. They’re lazy and dull and throw a fit when asked to move forward.

Previously, the horses were trained in two demonstrations. One demo focused on gaining respect and control on the ground and the other demo was all about building the horses’ confidence under saddle. In order to give audience members a better look at what goes into starting the Method with a horse, we’ve added an extra groundwork training session.

The horses will now be worked with in a groundwork training session on Saturday of the event and then will return to the arena on Sunday for another groundwork session and a separate riding session. “We’ve been able to accomplish a lot with the groundwork and riding training horses at previous tours, but this change is really going to allow us to show the transformation that’s possible,” Clinton says. “Plus, it’s going to give the audience a better idea of what to expect from their horses when they go home and start using the Method. If we find a better way to help people learn and ultimately improve their horsemanship, we’re going to do it.”

The first tour where you’ll be able to see the additional training demonstration will be at our Memphis, Tennessee Walkabout Tour, March 15 and 16. The event will take place at the Agricenter ShowPlace Arena. Tickets are $25 for the weekend and No Worries Club members get five free tour tickets per year.
